ALERT AM EMERGENCY ADVISORY RADIO STATION

2006-10-06

Advisory Radio has changed dramatically in the past decade, and Information Station Specialists has largely been the architect of that transformation, especially within the realm of emergency management. Hundreds of communities across America now operate their own Emergency Advisory Radio Stations specifically to tell area motorists what to do during Amber alerts, school incidents, flash floods, industrial accidents, terror threats, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornados and other types of emergencies. Through radio (the spoken word), listeners can receive up-to-the-minute reports, alerts and instructions with the level of timeliness and detail that make these types of broadcasts invaluable, especially when disaster strikes. During non-emergency times, communities can use the stations to inform motorists of street repairs, public notices, upcoming events, city history and even visitor information.
Emergency managers can trigger broadcast sequences (prerecorded for anticipated emergency scenarios) via telephone, pushbutton, siren system or other external control. New messages can be incorporated immediately and can be recorded locally or via telephone/cell phone. Broadcast live on a moment's notice. (See more on this below.)
ALERT AM comes standard with an exclusive Specific Area Message Encoding system that not only recognizes all 53 National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) event codes but has the unique ability to automatically rebroadcast only those targeted by you for your county(s).
Also unique: only ALERT AM allows you to expand your signal coverage area by adding transmitter locations. Additional transmitters may be installed at the outset or in future years.
Due to a patented antenna system design, ALERT AM is the only system of its kind that allows for antenna installation on a building's roof. When the antenna is installed in the adjacent yard of a building, the same design makes excavation for groundplanes and chemical groundrods unnecessary.
An optional 4-day battery backup keeps ALERT AM on the air during AC power outages. The optional Power Loss Notification Module alerts operators if power drops at the transmitter location. Strategically located Flashing ALERT Signs can be used to encourage motorists to tune to the station. Each of these options is modular and can be added to an ALERT AM System in future years. See more options below.
These capabilities establish ALERT AM as a communication tool that produces effective public response.
